Why setting goals is so important
When I started consciously setting goals, I realized how much it changed my life. Goals give me a clear direction. Without them, I often feel aimless, like I'm running in circles. With clear goals, I know exactly where I want to go and what I need to do to get there.
- Motivation : When I have a goal in mind, I am automatically more motivated to stick with it, even on difficult days.
- Setting priorities : Goals help me focus my time and energy on the things that really matter.
- Measure progress : It feels great to check off achievements one by one.
I realized that a goal is like a compass for me.
How to define your personal goals
I always start by asking myself what I really want. It helps to set concrete and tangible goals. Instead of just striving for "success in life," I formulate: "In one year, I want to learn a new skill, like a language." It feels more realistic and motivating.
One trick I use is to break big goals down into smaller steps. This way, I always feel like I'm accomplishing something. I also ask myself: Why do I want to achieve this goal? When I know the "why," it's easier to stick with it.
I write down my goals. It sounds old-fashioned, but it works. A clearly formulated sentence—written down—has an incredible impact.
